Churchgate - The Original Directors Choice

We last tried these in May 2019 and they seem recently to have had a slight name change. Now somewhat boldly called The Original Directors Choice, it would also appear they are one of Churchgate's "best sellers". We particularly liked these before but do they still get the thumbs up from the Sausage Review troops?...

Our sampling previously was as part of a pack of Churchgate's 6 Nations being their own take on a celebration of the Six Nations Rugby.  We liked the Directors enough to go get a couple of full pack of the "Directors" from our local store to really investigate Churchgate's creativity...

Jason Drage and sausage man Dan of the Churchgate Sausage Company, at Mayfield Farm on the Sheering Road in Essex make some seriously top quality sausages which keep people coming back time and time again to buy...and must be bang on with their product then!  They get plenty of compliments about their sausages, and some of them are from us!

The Original Directors Choice sausage is interesting.  50:50 quality local pork shoulder and pork belly with fresh sage, parsley and freshly ground black pepper.  Quality natural skins of course, it goes without saying. The mix is very consistent and the texture is a definite medium. (Note: also available from the shop/online as sausage meat in a 500g tube/pack which we've successfully tried also)

Now these beauties are still plump, succulent, eat really well and although one of the team here still is not big on pepper at all, she said she really liked them yet again.  Yahoo! 

I realise the format of this review is not our normal thing...you know talk about the raw sausage, cook it up, talk about it, eat it, talk about it natter natter...well we've done so many reviews regarding Churchgate's sausages, you can take it from us, their sausages are all stonkingly good and you will not be disappointed in these in particular.

We've eaten the Directors, simply from the pan on a fork, in a sandwich, a sausage toad, in shortcrust pastry as a sausage pie and.....as a sausage & mash...winner winner lovely dinner!  Thumbs up all round yet again!

OK seriously, we did like the Pork & White Pudding variety slightly more than these, and the Red Pepper & Chorizo is up there too, then the Pork, Beef & Mustard!  Well, what about the Pork Beef & Mustard? That was delightful too....I shall have to pause I'm tying myself up here.

Right let's make it simple.  Just go and buy some, or order some for delivery, you won't regret it!
